Design Idea #2

How it began
I purchased some new digital quilting patterns for my Gammill Statler Stitcher that I am excited to use

So, I am working on a project that will give me a platform to showcase some beautiful quilting

Step 1

I am trying to decide on a layout that will give the best space and shape to showcase my quilting

I have 2 options so far…

Option 1

  • Solid light grey centre
  • border of florals
  • dresden fans in the outside corners
  • nothing on inside corners

Step 2

I asked my social media quilting community for their vote on option 1 or option 2

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions

The votes are in, have been counted and re-counted

Option No.2 won by a very slim margin, so I compromised and made the panel into a stylised wreath shape, ensuring that I can still make the quilting the star of the show

Everyone’s comments and suggestions have inspired me to take this project on a magical mystery tour to incorporate suggestions with my own design ideas and traditional shapes

I really have absolutely no idea how the final quilt will look…

Step 3

The next step is now on my design wall:

I have pieced together scallop inspired semi-circles and I think that I will place one on each side of the centre panel to create a border that continues from the piecing in the centre panel

I am still not sure how this design will evolve… the cogitating continues🙃
